Could anyone help me by giving me instructions on how to fit a hood cover on a 2009 Morgan V6 Roadster

First you have to unlock the back of the hood, in order to fit the 2 "pins" of the hood in the 2 holes of the hood cover.

Then, well, it would be like a condom you would have to fit longitudinally, with feelling, meticulousness and a good sens of improvisation.

Personally, I've never used it, as I like the possibility to quick fit the hood in case of tropical rain. With the hood cover it's not so easy.

Those press studs are difficult to do up as you need one hand to hold the frame up, and two hands to pop the studs closed. The side poppers are also tricky. It needs strength and a firm grip.

I also have a Simmonds black leather hood cover which came with the car. This is much easier to fit. It slots over the two pins at the back, tucks all the way round , then secures with a long zip. This is significantly easier that the factory popper system but in my opinion doesn't look quite as good when fitted.

I attempted for the first time last week to fit my factory hood cover, I had been given some advice from another owner and went at it with great confidence. I popped the rear opening, fitted the 2 holes through the pins, 20 minutes later I had got no further.
When I went to fasten poppers the holes went out of line, when I took my eye off this then the alignment of the cover and rear opening pins moved. When I worked on the offside, the nearside held me back and when I worked on the nearside ......
Argueably the biggest waste of time, the last time I had so much fun was putting up the 44 Sport hood for the first time.

I believe these hood covers cost about £200, I drop kicked mine into a box marked "bollocks"

Sorry this was of no help to you, but occasionally something reminds you of a precious moment and I just had to share it.

It helps enormously if the hood is first folded exactly as shown in the handbook by the way. It must be tight and tidy.
A bit like my goodself. laugh2

Jim- you need one for the next race. I believe the best ones are lead lined with a built in air brake. Would be happy to help you attach one to your car prior to Castle Combe!

happy3 Oh I do like a good laugh - Thanks for sharing the story. Great Kicking, by the way!

I don't happen to have a Hood Cover as I like the natural look of a folded hood. I just made up two simple velcro straps to hold the flappy sides together.

But fitting the Factory Toneau has similar features requiring a good fight and is fun (I mean easier) when SWMBO hanging onto the opposite side. innocent

Jim,
I should forget hood covers - you're running without a hood anyway. It might save you from one of your cometitors who seems to be trying to slow you down rofl

John,
I could do with air brakes for the Z3, lifting off the throttle seems to have no effect...

Cheers,
