From Bovec take the 203 to Kranjska Gora. This takes you over the Vrsic Pass, the highest pass in Slovenia. After Kranjska follow the SS54 which will take you into Italy and then take the Predil Pass back into Slovenia. After the Predil Pass follow the 203 for about a mile and then turn left onto the 902. Although this road is a dead end the scenery is excellent. Return to the 203 and follow it back to Bovec.
I'd recommend visiting Logarska Dolina. Good accommodation there at the Pension Kmecka Hisa Ojstrica.
Consider visiting Tolminska Korita (Tolmin Gorge), Slap Savica (Savica Waterfall) and the Skocjan Caves.

From Wiki regarding the excellent Vrsic Pass:
The road through the pass rises from Kranjska Gora in a series of 50 hairpin bends, traverses the top of the Vršič Pass, and descends into the Soča Valley. The upper elevations of the road are rendered impassable by heavy snowfall during much of winter. The road was greatly improved in late 1915 to supply the Isonzo front of World War I, and it was originally named after Archduke Eugen of Austria-Hungary. The current name, Russian Road (Ruska cesta), refers to the approximately ten thousand Russian prisoners of war used as laborers in the 1915 construction.
Just off the main road, on the north side of the pass, at an elevation of around 1,200 m (3,900 ft), there is a Russian Orthodox chapel, built by the Russian POWs to commemorate their comrades who died during the road construction.
On the south side of the pass there is a bronze monument in honor of the mountaineer and writer Julius Kugy, work by the architect Boris Kobe and the sculptor Jakob Savinšek. It was erected in 1953.
It is truly beautiful & belies the painful history.
From memory I stayed in the Hotel Vitranc in Kranska. No problems.

Ken, Steve. Thank you very much for your replies ! Much appreciated. I hope you both have experienced these countries by Morgans- and that the recommended routes have Morgan "suspension-friendly" road qualities

I'm pretty sure Ken went in the Morgan, but I went on a motorbike and came home on an aircraft via hospital, which is a long story but the hairpin bends are cobbled on the Vrsic.. No problems on four wheels, but it's 'character building' on two wheels..!
Have a great time & take plenty of photo's, we're all interested..!

Not sure how far you want to go but Serbia has some lovely locations & this is one eccentric location in the mountains. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review...ral_Serbia.html

http://www.morgan.at/UK/MorganonTour_UK/MorganonTour_UK.htmlMorgan Austria is quite active in Slovenia and Croatia as a travel agency to organise trips. I'm sure Mrs. Koessler can give you good advise. Just check the travel catalogue to get some ideas

Aage I drove the Balkans in June 2015. Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria & Greece from the UK in my 1980 +8, a 6500KMs round trip. There was an article in Miscellany later that year. Croatia we stuck to the coast road which was really scenic with smooth roads. I would try and make it to the Croatian islands in the Adriatic. We stayed at the Hotel Esplanade in Crikvenica and Hotel Life in Rogoznica. Montenegro is also worth visiting if time permits.
