Hi - new member here and hopefully about to get ownership of my first 4/4. Ive seen one or two mentions on other forums here about security. Dealers and insurance seem very relaxed about it but has anyone added anything extra to their car beyond the immobiliser? As others have said, there's little point in locking them. If someone wants to get in, then a locked door will mean a knife through the roof - so I'd rather leave it open with nothing inside. I tend not to park mine anywhere too 'dangerous' really - it's usually at someone's house or at a pub or hotel where I can see it.

I have a secret switch for the fuel pump. The car will only travel about 200 yards on the petrol in the carb bowls. With my memory ive found out a few times.

The issue to be careful of is the insurance company attitude to not locking. I dont subscribe to the common moan that they try to find excuses not to pay, but they do expect you to do all you reasonably can to make like difficult for a thief. That may well incluse using locks if they are fitted even if people can hop over the door.
As an example of their attitude, a pal had his car stolen. When recovered there was no sign of forcible entry though there was bad damage. He could only produce one set of keys having told them early on that he had two sets so they took the view that his wife had left the keys in the car. The scrotes themselves took the "no comment" route. No insurance payout. Probably justified - his wife is a bit dippy. Some people mightn take the view that accidentally leaving the keys in the car was an insurable event. They didnt - they took the view that the insured hadnt taken proper care of the car.
So personally I would lock the car up even if it was an ineffectual step.

After a Morgan is not a car you drive if you would like to remain anonymous.....
I remember approx 15 years ago as Morgan got stolen and soon recovered as the thief found it impossible to move on.
Arwyn I think you are being a bit complacent in assuming that a stolen Morgan cant be sold. Lots of high value cars are simply put into containers and shipped out to countries like Russia where there is no legal system. If its not yet happened to a Morgan thats because the average scrote doesnt recognise the value. I'm chuckling at the thought of some Russian mafia boss riding around Moscow collecting his drug money in a Stolen Morgan High powered large Mercedes or a Morgan?

As everyone else has said. Doors locked, tonneau on with storm cover over night, nothing left inside and for those few warm days when you need to leave the flying jacket behind, a cable and padlock through the arms and through the steering wheel.
If you are a scrote reading this, it is also connected to the mains!!
Here for a good time not a long time!!

I would never lock a glove box either. I often leave mine completely open. If it were locked it might be a temptation and you run the risk of it being prised open and the dash damaged.

If you are a scrote reading this, it is also connected to the mains!! Cool, an electrically heated flying jacket . Easy enough. I have a 12v heated waistcoat from BMW. Would fit nicely under a sheepskin jacket until the heat exhaustion hit.
