Interesting discussion...
I didn't realise that Aeros had two silencers.

My 2014 Aero Plus 8 has a single silencer, 22" long under the running board on each side and nothing else.
No rear box at all. Is it standard?
As an ex factory development car nothing would surprise me.
Starting, it sounds just like Mark's video.

My 2001 S1 Aero 8 also only has one single silencer under each running board

I've just re-read the thread and I think I got confused, it seems that 1 silencer a side is normal.
But I could be wrong....

Just one silencer each side when on the original exhaust, the Librands also has one silencer each side.
They then have two cats each side as well.

OK, the S4 / Plus 8 has one cat each side, very close to the engine manifold.

Mine has the big boxes each side under the running boards and then another box each side under the boot before the tailpipes.

That's an original system then

AeroIan, I certainly hope you are pleased with the result, do update us. It would be really interesting to hear all these options side by side for comparison, but I guess that's never going to happen. I can only say that whichever route each of us choose, it has to be better than the standard factory set up. Personally, I just want mine to sound like a V8 should in a lightweight sports car, not like a 745i BMW. Mine is getting twin side pipes next month so I hope I'm happy with the outcome, hearing a new Plus 8 on twin sides last weekend gave me a good feeling about it.

Yes, also looking forward to hearing the new sound. Having heard the potential of that engine with no silencing attached at all, you have a big range of possibilities, ranging from sensible to hooligan.
