Okay the visit was not what I had hoped so you definitely have the best photos with Ferrari's. On arrival I was told to turn my phone off completely and was not allowed to take any photos at all. Bah humbug !

i visited Classiche which is where they rebuild customer cars and it was amazing. An early 125S was being rebuilt and it had apparently been run by Enzo himself. I walked through the assembly area. They now make 8000 cars but 40,000 engines as they do the 3L V6T for Maserati on a new line.

Interesting fact. If you order Ferrari Red, Grigio (Grey) or White it is painted in house. Every other colour (costs extra) is sent to an outside supplier to be done in a spray booth by hand. Then shipped back to the factory and put on the line to finish.

My contact is Ferrari staff but not be allowed anywhere near the F1 program. He described it as "rings of privacy" with F1 and the future design teams as the two cores. A number of F488 riding around with prototype GT3 fins and high drag wings etc.

The production lines are V8 and V12 cars on different floors. The extra QA on the V12 floor is noticeable. Seeing the engine machining area is a wonder. Then the dyno room with a twin turbo V12 going full belt feels more akin to a Jumbo taking off. Thats a BIG lump of angry live thing.

But no pics....mind you a lot of them were around the Aero as I came out!

I am sure it was a very nice experience.
I never had the chance of going there and not even to Pagani (that is close enough to think at a "combo" visit).

There are many, many roads where I life where these modern machines would be simply impossible to use.

I have been very thankful for the small footprint of the Aero on the costal roads of Positano and Como. It even works to my advantage to be RHD as I am close to the kerb (if there ever is one) as the locals don't stop.
