Buying a Morgan does seem to be something of an asymmetrical relationship, and I can see both sides of the issue. For the purchaser of a new vehicle it's a considerable investment, possibly after one's house the single biggest expense one would get involved with. So naturally one might expect to be treated with a degree of respect and get a prompt and decent response to one's issues. On the other hand, there are always more customers for Morgans than there are cars available, and I can see how a potential customer who might be viewed as 'problematic' in some way might not be encouraged to return. I have had clients in the past who came to me with what I viewed were unrealistic expectations, and rather than subject myself to any grief I simply turned their business away - and none too politely in one case when confronted with someone who didn't seem to want to take 'No' for an answer. For me, I wanted a Morgan at a time when buying a new one was out of the question, so I didn't deal with MMC, the dealer I bought from was very helpful and as I do all the maintenance work myself there were no issues with warranties or after-sales service. As a result I've never had any contact with anyone from the factory apart from the folks on the spares counter - who have always been great. I do for some reason keep running into Factory tour guides, though. They appear to be increasing in number, but in my experience they are all reasonably polite and well-behaved

I am with you on the asymmetric relationship Tim. Fortunately, I have never had to deal direct with the factory to date - it does seem a bit hit and miss. I have a good relationship with my spanner man (Mark Middleton), and that's the most important one for me. Those factory guides...yes, they do seem to turn up in the most unlikely places.

We've certainly been put off certain places by front of house incompetence. Only this week we've seen our regular hotel suffer untypical slow service. This would be enough to put us off on a single encounter but we are regulars and know it's not typical. Morgan is far from typical. Normally the dealer is front of house for a manufacturer, so treatment by the dealer sets the tone. But not necessarily with Morgan. Factory access is unprecedented. If I felt badly treated anywhere I would probably attempt to feed that back in a balanced way, without any expectations. I've been shafted by the VW dealer a couple of times but still go back for more.......

I must admit that we have now been put off ever considering buying another Mercedes by their appalling customer service and complete indifference to this customer's problems. This was not just one person but involved dealerships and MB customer services department. I'm sure others have found Mercedes to be the paragon of customer service. Not sure I'd have been so affected had to only been one person though.

There is a local Vauxhall dealer who will not be getting custom from me. A less than satisfactory second hand car buy for sospan jnr. Lack of contact from them with updates, being fed bull***t, total failure to realise they were in error. I later found out that when selling a car for another customer they were actually using it as a pool car! Racked up mileage, no effort to sell. The customer smelled a rat and got people to query buying the car to establish the facts. She was being told there were no enquiries or tales of ridiculously low offers. All disproved. I think an out of court settlement was made.

Some of you seem to be missing the point.
The OP did say it was the way he'd been "treated" by someone at the factory, not that he just took a dislike to him.
Given that the OP is a serial Morgan owner, a mature professional engineer and seems a well- balanced chap, I'm going to speculate that it was someone in a senior position at the factory and that it was related to solving issues on the OP's car.
The OP is not the first person to leave the fold after unsatisfactory response from the MMC and perhaps we should assume he's got a point rather than making out he's some kind of prima donna who left because he didn't like the colour of someone's tie.
Rose-tinted spectacles seem to be standard issue for some on here.

I completely understand the OP. Even if I am a lover of Morgans there's only so much your love can stand. And I can't even tell you here what I think of the factory that makes Morgans, or of their management, or might be their directors, or suppliers, or ... well, it really doesn't matter, supposedly whoever sits at the top is responsible for them all, and it is the management's job to get rid of bad apples before they become the rule, not the exception. So, I guess the name to be blamed must be Steve Morris.
What if I told you:
a) I am waiting new exhausts for my M3W since September 2016 (since the Wild Mogs were here, a bazillion of moments in time ago);
b) I am waiting a new windshield for my +4 since January 2017;
c) I have therefore both my Morgans parked for months now.
I bet you wouldn't believe.
Anyway, it saddens me to see anyone from TM go. Or just "move on", something I'm starting to wonder myself if, or just when, will happen.
In the meantime, I will keep frequenting the Malvern Arms and abusing the "Something for Jays" thread.
