I was poking around the internet trying to discover who Pixel West had sold MOG Magazine to and came across an interesting article in The National Law Review here. It seems that the dubious manoeuvres by Stephen Dorrell have not released him from TUPE responsibilities and the unfair dismissal cases are going ahead next month. I wonder if this has any bearing on the further resale of the magazine? ~iw Ian, you have a knack for uncovering very interesting things on the internet! In this case, it looks like Mr Dorrell's machinations could well and truly bite him in the bum as Pixel West Limited will have much more significant assets to claim against than Project Viva Limited. I don't know the background, but it seems to serve him right.

It will be interesting to see what happens in court next month...

Not according to Companies House Net Worth -£58k Oh! Do you suspect he has phoenixed his company into one with very few assets in order to ring-fence this liabilty, or is it typical for companies in the publishing sector to be undercapitalised?

Not sure but I can't image anyone producing niche magazines being subject to Corbins new tax rules.
I did look at some of the other Enterprises in the Dorrell portfolio and none of the publications based businesses looked particularly strong so it might be a symptom of the sector.

This guy is a serial owner of insolvent companies and should be made to pay the consequences. This is a case where the law should make directors responsible to pay unpaid taxes and staff wages. Commercial suppliers take the risk if they don't get director's guarantees or somesuch before allowing credit for large sums. Having a limited liability company should not be used as a vehicle to intentionally avoid payment of debts.

Proving intent in these situations can be difficult. Serial insolvency is still common.
