Just a thought, would it be possible to chop out the original silencers and fit a pair of Magnaflows onto the stock tubes.

Dab,
If you did this the forward pipe would be too short to centre the Magnaflow between the mounts. I know Todd wanted to keep the originals intact as it is a brand new car.

To provide the space required for a second flexi coupling then.

From what I've seen, as far as everyone posting about cracked exhaust, it's not like it couldn't use one.

Magnaflow Muffler Mission III

I mentioned to Grockle last evening that I took a little cruise after work over to New Bedford. It's a beautiful hilly run in the heart of Amish country. My Magnaflow Mission this time around was to really listen to the new exhausts while pushing the M3W hard up the many steep hills and around the tight bends.

My conclusion is they are not overly loud at all even when driving fast up the steep hills, however they do sound just loud and cool enough with that deep Magnaflow tone if that makes any sense. I can't see any true car guy not liking these. It seemed the local Amish I passed along the way in their buggies liked them with many "thumbs up" and warm waves! And best of all the noise didn't seem to spook the horses!!

A very special THANKS is in order to Grockle for his excellent production work on the recent Magnaflow Muffler Video!!

Great video High Noon - nice editing Grockle - for a moment I thought there was a camera-man on roller-skates behind.

Those pipes do sound nice 👍

Thanks Mark H......at one point in the video I was a little over 60 mph, I can't imagine hanging on behind with roller-skates......lol

I did another little cruise last evening and so far I'm very pleased. I have a couple little updates coming soon....all positive.

Thanks,

Time for a little update. I feel the new Magnaflow's look and just sound great its that simple and you can't beat the cost. Some of the after market replacement systems look so large and odd I really don't understand the reasoning?

One observation is my front exhaust coming right out of the engine and through the bend is now basically all golden yellow color with hardly any blue at all. When the original exhaust were on this area was blue to turning black. There actually is now only a little blue (only a few inches) coming right off the motor and this is only on the back side where the cool air is not hitting.

So what does this all mean? Well maybe someone on this forum who is a lot smarter than me can answer this for all of us. (and please while you are at it double check my math...lol...)

In the mean time, I found this information from the British Stainless Steel Association site.

Colour Formed Approx Temperature C
pale yellow 290
straw yellow 340
dark yellow 370
brown 390
purple brown 420
dark purple 450
blue 540
dark blue 600

If dark yellow is 370 C or 698 F compared to dark blue at 600 C or 1112 F that is approximately 230 C or 414 F difference!! COOLER!!

Even if we use "blue" instead of "dark blue" compared to the same "dark yellow" it is still 306 F cooler!!

With hot weather approaching (although I have driven it in 80 degree weather already) I'll keep an eye on color. If it eventually turns blue I will update this but for now it's so simple...just let it breath!

Where did you get the pipe bent, did you just take it to a muffler shop or did you do it yourself?

There's some good research work here High Noon, which may prevent the fracture issue too.
