The offside catch at the rear of the hood doesn't hold when pushed down to secure, any suggestions on adjustment please?

First thing to check is that the mechanism isn't seized, have a good look down the hole. If that is OK you can adjust them, there is a lock nut if I remember correctly then you turn the pointy bit but it needs to go a whole turn as they are usually bent to an angle. I suspect the catch is seized as the other bit wont move on it's own. Lots of oil on the catch and check that the cable isn't snagged or frayed.

Yes be extremely careful they are bent at an angle. If you only do a 1/2 turn like I did it won't release. With care I solved it.

Also try lubricating the bits so they close properly.

Thanks for the replies. The mechanisms all work smoothly and are well lubricated (car has done 6,000 miles from new). The bowden type cables are slightly slack when the hood retaining slider is in the locked position. When viewed from inside the spare wheel area it appears that the non-functioning slider doesn't move sufficiently towards the nearside when the hood is pushed down so its lip doesn't move under the upper edge of the cone that is a part of the hood pin/spring assembly. The working slider seems to cover more of the hole than the other one. I can't see an adjustment that would increase the movement of the slider across the hole. Any further suggestions gratefully received?

Have you checked that the latch assembly is firmly bolted on to the framework of the car? I had similar issues with my 2011 plus 4 and found that one of the securing bolts was missing and the others were all loose. The latch assembly would move away slightly when pressure from the pin was exerted and hence would not latch.
