My windscreen wipers intermittently wouldn’t stop when switched off. The problem was identified with the wiper motor assembly removed, the circlip which holds the gear drive spindle in place had gone missing which allowed the shaft to move (part no. 4 in this diagram http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/wiper-systems/ ). This play I suspect allowed the ‘park stop’ to move to a position where it couldn’t function. Great service from Stafford Vehicle Components http://www.s-v-c.co.uk/ who provided a replacement circlip FOC. Hope this helps someone.

For the trivia buffs on here: Tony Stafford, who founded the company was chief buyer at Reliant. Tony was an MG enthusiast and had an ivory concours MGTF from the fifties. I knew Tony quite well and he was always up for a natter. He sourced me a set of used Scimitar wheels for my BGT in 1983. They had been fitted to the Austin Princess which was driven by the MD'S wife. He also managed to locate a rare starter motor when I was desperate for my Gilbern Invader. He knew all the right people in the trade. When Tony retired, what had been mainly an auto jumble hobby turned into a business. He lived in Tamworth (obviously).

What happened to Reliant?
Is it still ticking along somewhere.
I do see them on the roads - but are they the lingering few?

Thank you very much for this post Martin ....... I also had the problem with the windscreen wiper failing to turn off! In the end I reached the stage of stopping and unplugging the wiper motor when the fault occurred. Very inconvenient in showery weather. Had a spare circlip in my odds & sods box........now all fixed!! I wish all problems were so easy...how are you with cam belts?
