Of course, when you've found out about the chassis that goes with this number & any further details you could clone the car I expect.. Steve what would be the point of cloning a 67 Morgan ? Free VEL for one..? And that's just running costs in the UK. Add in a bit of purloined history & the value goes up. Swap between countries a few times, muddy the water & things get a lot easier. Just rankle a bit about on-line chassis details, sorry. What would you use to clone it?

What would you use to clone it?
In no way would I ever imagine Button would possibly consider doing this, but his ItsaBitsa Morgan doesn't have a pukka Morgan identity, it's been put together out of bits and pieces from other Morgans. IF an unscrupulous ne'er-do-well (i.e. not Button, who is a thoroughly decent and upstanding citizen) got hold of the car and wanted to add a few quid to its value, then cloning another Morgan would be an easy route to do so.

Putting a lot of info on the internet can be a bad move.
The details become available to all and sundry and are often a factor in fraud, ID theft, targeting by thieves and scammers etc..
Remember google streetview? It was a good way for burglars to view properties. The same for google earth and maps showing satellite view.
Facebook.....a disaster in many ways. I can not fathom why people publish so much personal info there. It is also a tool for abuse, bullying.
I use searches to find info for many things but even then the source has to be looked at for credibility.
Whilst writing this post I see 74 spiders watching the site. Most will be scanning for info they might use. OK...some could be car magazines scanning for possible story lines. Some could be marketing companies gathering data.
So.....be careful out there!

This is unfortunately true. At least in the U.S. I was dumbfounded when I realized how easy it is to Title and Register My DIY Morgan. I know of several others. I have a +4 chassis with the chassis number. It is repairable. There is a restorer who wants it. WHY: Because He has the other parts and can build a +4 and sell it as an "Original". Then there will be two +4's with the same number. NOT RIGHT! The State Of Washington could care less. Just pay the Tax Money and no problem with the Government. The Morgan Books are often wrong. One has MY '63 4/4 listed as a Series V. Wrong! It is a Series IV. This is one area that MSCC could be of value.

Thought buying a car was a pleasure, its a minefield!
In the USA, how far would the Title Document go back, all the way to the original owner of the chassis (number)? Can you also get any true idea of actual milage?
Looking at some of the cars on the market, many have low milage for their age i.e. 40000miles in 50+ yrs only = 800pa. Don't think I could keep my hands of the car, to do less than that in the summer months........

In the USA, how far would the Title Document go back, all the way to the original owner of the chassis (number)? Can you also get any true idea of actual milage?
Looking at some of the cars on the market, many have low milage for their age i.e. 40000miles in 50+ yrs only = 800pa. Don't think I could keep my hands of the car, to do less than that in the summer months........
