Hi,

I have a 95 4/4 with the 1.8l Zetec engine. The car is pretty much standard except for a sports cat and side exit sports silencer. The exhaust is a bit noisy on hard acceleration but tolerable when driving at constant speed. I want to fit a Librands stainless steel exhaust manifold to reduce weight and to get rid of the EGR valve. What worries me is if this modification will increase the exhaust noise.

Has anyone any experience of fitting this manifold and if so did it increase the exhaust noise.

Many thanks for any advice.

I replaced both the exhaust and the manifold from Librands in one go on my 1.8 silver top Zetec engined Morgan so unfortunately don't know what difference the manifold makes on its own but I would suggest you ring Rob Wells at Librands - he is extremely knowledgable and I am sure he will be able to give you the info you need

My guess (and it is only a guess) is that the manifold will make a small difference to the sound as it improves airflow

I can't comment on the 1,8 but have experience with the 1,6 Sigma:
The change of the manifold & catalyser caused minor sound change. The exchange of mufflers was "the big noise deal"

I put a Librands manifold on my +4 when it already had a Librands sports exhaust. I was not aware of any increase or change in noise level but a big increase in mid range torque.
