Good morning everybody.
I have recently noticed that the right hand front indicator light casing is melting due to its proximity to the exhaust pipe. While I think the proper answer is to do something to cool those pipes, in the mean time I need to replace the casing.
I intend to put the lights on top of the mudguards for better visibility; prompted by a near miss recently when a driver did not see me moving up inside him as he turned right, I guess I was too low to be recognised as a vehicle in his wing mirror. An electronic trick will help by turning the indicators in to day running lights as well. Morgan, I notice, now fit the front indicators on a stalk above and outboard of the headlamps.
Anyway- today's question is - does anybody know where the casings come from? The lights themselves are made by Dasteri in Greece but they don't list the casings. I wonder, is this another tied to Morgan part?

Not sure if it helps but Australian spec. models have the indicators mounted on top and slightly outboard of headlamp shell. The part # for stalks is T400036. ETA: not sure of source but my dealer gave me a shell for my reversing light project.

The first day I got my M3W I had the same thing happen to me so I wrapped my exhaust with DEI exhaust heat wrap and never had the same issue again. I also like the old school look it gives as well. http://www.jegs.com/i/DEI/186/010129/100...wDlPRoCqzDw_wcB

Never had the melting problem, but decided to remove the fronts all together. Not as easy as it sounds. Now indicate with the built in flasher in the LED head lights.
The rears are also modified.
M3W, now!!!

The heat from the headers is greatly reduced with a less restrictive exhaust. An expensive solution to melting indicators but your engine will run so much better as well. If you want improved visibility there are lots of 7" round headlights with Daytine Running Light LED's built in that work well, from about £50. Search ebay for " 7" Round LED DRL style Headlights".

Vintage Guide Style LampsFirst off if you all would just do your M3W a really big favor and install new Magnaflow's (see my thread!) or one the Stage 1 aftermarket exhaust kits. This would solve many problems like melted lights by just letting the engine get rid of those very hot exhaust gases!!! Wrapping the exhaust may save the lights but it even adds more heat on the engine. It's like wearing a winter jacket in the summer! I can't believe how much cooler everything is after installing the new Magnaflows and I don't smell the excessive heat anymore! So simple..... OK...I took these photos early this foggy morning heading out on a mission in my 32 Ford Roadster. These are 1930 vintage Guide lights with the amber running lamp on top. It also works as my blinkers and emergency flashers all in one. I just love the classic teardrop design of the lamps on top. In my opinion this is what Morgan should design and put on these Classic M3W and offer a similar but chrome running lamp on the fenders!! Now that would be so classic & cool! Oh you can see the old cat yellow painted radiator fan tips in motion in the last photo!! [img:center] [/img] [img:center] [/img] [img:center] [/img]

WOW! Thanks everybody, what a lot of help, all in one day. The bezels and lenses look OK but I am not sure if they will coma apart, I'll give it a coat of looking at when we get home from holiday tomorrow. DLR type headlights look worth a try and I would love some of those 32 Ford roadster casings for the mudguard tops. Given time the exhausts will have to be sorted, I read a lot about drilling out baffles and bashing the cats to bits with iron bars - is that really a good idea or does it only make more noise? ( I have enough of that already! )
