When I was passed the Plus 8 I was also passed the spreadsheet showing all fillups since 1999. Long-term average is 19. I think I have averaged slightly less than that. While poorer than almost anyone else in this thread, it beats the Firebird by some margin (11mpg average)...

MPG is one of the indicator's of a well tuned Morgan or one that is not so well tuned. I keep track of MPG. Mind You in the U.S. 4 32oz qts = 1 gallon. Imperial Gallons confuse Me a bit. My Bitsa averages about 20 U.S. MPG on a trip. As I rarely drive in the City in My Morgan I really do not know. The 2.0 Zetec(w. Weber DCOE) DHC is about 24MPG and the TR powered +4-4Str 22 MPG. 1 gallon = 1.2 US gallons so your 24 mpusg is 29 mpg. Real confusion comes when you try to convert to go metric with litres per 100km and the number gets bigger as your fuel consumption worsens It does show what progress has been made when a 3.5 litre 190 bhp engine in a 1 tonnes Plus 8 does 19 mph and a more modern 4.3 litre 500 bhp engine in a 1.5 tonne car does 16mpg.

1991 litres for the last 10,000 miles in a 3.9 +8 pre-cat. So 22.5mpg.

I am not worried by the mpg for the plus8. A 2002 4l in standard set up with Gems fuel injection.I am getting 30 ish per gallon, using Shell V power. I sense the engine runs better with it and for 7k annual mileage the £££ difference is negligible. So....now for the comments about driving like a grandad!  : Well.....I don't drive deliberately to save fuel. I don't race everywhere. I do enjoy the capabilities of the engine though  I don't slavishly monitor mpg as some seem to. I usually estimate from mileage recorded before next top up. Once a year I usually do a check but mainly to remind me of my rule of thumb estimates for refills.

The Aero Plus 8 uses about the same amount of fuel as the AMG C43.
Both are about 370 bhp.
Not really a surprise, I guess.
the C43 is 300kg heavier, but more aerodynamic than the Plus 8.
Biggest difference is road tax.
Plus 8 = £535
C43 = £240
That difference is 52 gallons of V Power or about 1300 miles.

Is there a cure for the unreliable fuel gauge in the +4 ? today I drove 15 miles with the needle banging on the empty stop and when I fuelled up It would only take 39.8 litres !!! it has a 55 litre tank, that's over 3 gallons in reserve or about 120 miles !

Is there a cure for the unreliable fuel gauge in the +4 ? The cheapest and most effective solution is to simply ignore it and go by mileage. I can get 350 miles out of my 4/4, so I fill up every 250 miles knowing that I've got plenty of reserve.
