Wanner is the best you can get, I have tried others included ones operated by compressed air and nothing comes close to a Wanner. Not cheap but new are available but consider the cost of seized kingpins? I would advise you go for a 2 bleed screw model, one screw vents the grease chamber and the other drops the pressure down incase you get a hydraulic lock on the grease nipple, and these guns are powerful enough to do that.

You will leave it to your dependants and it will still work perfectly, mine is 30 years old and still faultless.

Another consideration is flex or rigid hose/tube. It's really personal choice, there are plus and minus points. I prefer one hand operation so stay with the solid tube the guns come with as the flex pipe needs one hand on the gun lever and the other holding the tubes collet head against the nipple until it locks on. I know some like the convenience of the flex hose and find it more useful. Like the cars we all have different views. ;-)

Hi Nick

The one at the back is used for bleeding after filling, just like brake bleeding open the screw and pump until steady grease comes through. The top one is used if you find a hydraulic lock of the collets around the nipple won't let you pull the gun off, saves snapping/damaging the nipples.

I'm now on the hunt for a nice vintage Wanner. As advised here I want the one with 2 bleed screws.

Are seals etc still available for these as I imagine some have been lying around for ages. I take it also the model is 30955?

Thanks

There is only one..... Wanner, i've had mine for over 50 years and bought another off ebay for £25 complete with original handbook. I have one for grease and one for 160 grade oil for the old Caterham 7 Triumph type bronze trunnions.
