A couple of photos of my M3W with a C-47A Dakota that I am involved in preserving and restoring at the RAF Metheringham Museum in Lincolnshire. This Dakota has some WW2 history and sadly is far from airworthy, we are aiming to restore it to a good ground display condition and build a hangar to keep it in. If you are ever in the area the museum is small but well worth a visit and is dedicated to those who served in 106 Squadron with Lancaster Bombers there. Dakotas also used the airfield for casualty evacuation to the nearby American Hospital at Nocton Hall after D-Day, so it does have a connection. The airfield closed soon after the war. The museum is operated entirely by volunteers and is part of the Lincolnshire Aviation heritage trail: www.aviationheritagelincolnshire.com/content/aviation-trails For anyone interested in that sort of thing, there's lots to see in "RAF Lincolnshire".

There is another C47 Skytrain being restored nearby, but I think that is in Rutland. It looks as if yours is in a lot better shape, and will need less hours to get it airworthy again.
Good luck.
PS good Photos

Looks can be deceptive, this C-47 has been moved by road, in sections and seems to have suffered quite badly each time. The wing center section had an argument with a concrete lamppost on the move to Methringham (and lost) as well as being disassembled for transport in a hurry with bolt croppers (not by us). If you wanted to get one flying again, you probably wouldn't start here. With plenty of money anything is possible but...... It is not a particularly rare aircraft yet, there are two others within 20 miles at the BBMF and East Kirkby Museum. As I said, there is a lot of wartime aviation heritage in this area.

Another one to add to the "Must Visit" list Is it possible to see inside? In particular the cockpit?

It's always good to see restoration taking place whatever the aircraft. Thanks for sharing. -
