Mind you, when I looked underneath I thought I saw the famous 2 concentric rings. Perhaps that was wishful thinking. I must get a torch
and a jack
and some old trousers

No linkages on the 4/4 Mazda box, unlike the remote extension to the Plus 4, it's a direct one. The earlier Ford boxes have a rather Heath Robinson link which I don't think helps the gearchange quality.

In the meantime I find that 5th gear isn't really needed round our way, and I'm headed onto the M40 tomorrow morning and I'll be able to get my co-driver to hold the wheel while I try to find it. it's about 6 inches across to the right, I think

You might find a Quickshift conversion helps. It made a huge difference to the Ford Type 9 box on my car.

I was surprised Stuart, I thought a 2012 4/4 with the Sigma engine would of had the Mazda box.

Thank you for that tip, Tim, I'll definately follow that up
