As others have said, it is patina. There is an inevitability about scratches and other marks. I dropped the plywood sheet that covers the tool tray on a rear wing. Took me a week to tell as I was so cross with myself. A very nice man from a dent removal firm has made the consequent dent nearly invisible. I can still find it - with a very bright light and after some searching but I know it is there. It makes not one iota of difference to how the car drives or to our enjoyment of the car.

Go on Kenny, really upset us and say it was when Rachel Riley jumped into your car and caught her jewellery on it....... She can scratch my car anyday ;-)

Kenny I found my wheel had some bits knocked out of it. I then realis d that my wedding ring was probably responsible for it and I did learn to be more careful but as the others say it's patina. Proper cars have patina!

I feel your pain. Did the same to my plus 4 by the roof frame falling on the wheel while I was trying to fiddle with the back. Easily done.

Better to get the odd mark or two and enjoy using your car in the way it was intended than keep a perfect but stone cold queen in the garage.

I guess I've arrived at a kind of compromise with mine. It gets used most of the year and so picks up marks, some I've caused and others just from use. I still fuss over it but without becoming paranoid about it. I have no intention of locking it away only to be enjoyed by the next owner.

Moto lita will redo it if you need to. Depending on how deep the marks are you can sand it back and relaquer it, I did with one of my wheels and changed the colour at the same time.

It was good to see you again today Kenny. After I left you I went to Heskin Rally then called at Heskin Hall for a brew and a mooch with my better half.

Be careful if you take your mrs to the hall as the speed bumps are vicious and unmarked. I now have plenty "patina" on my crossmember along with lumps of tarmac. The scraping noise went straight through me but as Timothy said " $hit will happen" and nothing fell off!

When I first got the car this would have both horrified and worried me but the more you live with your car the more slight bumps, scrapes and scratches become the norm and are a record of the good times. I would rather it was kept pristine but it is much better for it to be battle scarred than sat in the garage.

P.S. I too have scratches on my steering wheel and I have no idea how they got there, I can only assume that Moto Lita wood is quite soft.

Hi Kenny when my car was new and I was learning how to do normal Morgan tasks I dropped the hood the steering wheel stopped it .
Same damage as you ,touch up with varnish , its not very visible but still there I'm used to it now and now more care is taken

The first scratch made my seatbelt...
I opened it as I do usual in my tintop....

I've done that on both of my Morgans.... very annoying.

Motolita rims can be easily repaired. By a specialist of course.
