Bought my first car at the age of 16 with the intention to get it restored before I'd turn 18. That was a '67 Karmannn Ghia back in 1988.
Finally realized the Paint shop wouldn't get it finished until my 18th birthday so I went and bought a Volkswagen Beetle as a second car. Still at the age of 17.
Then owned a succession of air-cooled VW's and almost died in another Karmann when I hit a tree.
Went for a much safer car afterwards: A Volvo 122S, bought unseen over the phone when I was still hospitalized. It didn't had safety belts, though.

I wouldn't turn down a Volvo 544 or 121/122 as personal transportation for everyday use. Later Volvo's were rubbish.
Among the varety of cars I traded over the last 20 years are some I still sorely miss:
- a 1961 Facel Vega HK500
- the early Porsche 911S SWB I used to drive to university
- a much bemoaned Auto Union 1000Sp Coupe
- a BMW 3.0 CSL (bought with accident damage from a scrapyard in Switzerland 12 years ago for CHF 1.200,--)
- my Jaguar 3.8 S-Type manual - swore I'd never sell it. Needed the money so it went.
The Morgan's gonna stay in the family. Promise.
