If you're determined not to buy a morgan, buy an aeroplane or a boat. Or.....I have no need for one whatsoever, but I had a run in the latest, largest artic unit from MAN. It was awesome! Brand new, about the same price as an old Ferrari and not affected by high mileage. Trust me, have a look, it's not as daft as it sounds.

Last year as part of the Wild Mogs sunshine and great fun through Spain to Portugal, all the way there and back roof down. This year Wild Mogs trip to the Isle of Man. Travelled up M5/M6 to Liverpool in the rain, roof down. Weekend on the Isle of Man, sunshine and fog, roof down. Great fun. Remind me where was it that young woman sat in my car! That's a hard one Ian, WHICH woman? I seem to remember several! And Howard, he's old enough! Ha....I'm glad you said it! 🤓😉 Howard....blimey, this puts you in a bit of an interesting position. Apart from the Elise, nothing really seems to have rocked your boat so far. I'd suggest hiring a Morgan for a few days to really try one out. I suspect that it will be too much of a compromise but still worth it. Although I'm a fan of the trads, if the funds stretch to it, I'd seriously try a modern Plus 8. You'll get the comfort you strive for, the performance and an interesting car as well. Good luck!!

I've finally come to the realisation that for me there is no comfy car on a journey over 6 - 8 hours! The very act of sitting there in the one position (given some minor fidgeting) leaves me stiff and aching. Tried everything; Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche etc. but have come to the realisation that it's my age. That said, a recent eight hour drive back from Snowdonia along A and B roads in the Plus 4 left me in the best shape I've been in after such a length of trip for some years. Ears ringing a bit from the road noise but the rest of me ok. We've both always found the Plus 4 comfy, which was a revelation given that the reason I didn't try one for years was reports in the motoring press of discomfort and a harsh ride. (Yes, it does crash a bit over big bumps!). I don't read the motoring press any more.

The Fezza! Sold it this afternoon.
As I said when I bought it, the plan always was to sell after 2 years but this is a little earlier than I expected. I had a decent offer on the car and all reports suggest that high end car prices like house prices are weakening, so I decided to accept.
The 430 is a fabulous piece of kit and I am really lucky to have owned one. Its a true sports car whose slightly modified relatives were racing at le Mans just 10 years ago. And whose offspring the 458 has only just finished racing there. It goes like stink, holds the road like glue and drinks the finest like George Best. And in Rosso Corsa it looks stunning.
But unless you are really wealthy and I am not, a Ferrari isnt that useable. You cant afford to pile on mileage - depreciation is about £2 per mile. Other running costs are high. Security is an issue. So it was fun for a while and I might sometime return to Maranello but until the market stabilises one way or the other, I will do something else.
Question is what. I know how much you all enjoyed my indecision last time round so I plan on keeping you fully informed again. And the first possibility I am looking at as a way of having fun for a year or two without losing too much of my Future Ferrari Fund is to buy a Plus 4.
Possibility mind you. Anyone giving advice? Or offering odds? F430 to Mog plus 4 is a big jump , 400 bhp to 150 bhp !

I think everyone has their minimum acceptable power (MAP) figure, anything over which is wasted power and money.

Hire one.. Weekend away & time to think as well.. Makes good sense I'll give up all alcohol for a month if howard enters Morgandom . Steady Richard. You won't be able to do that if we're meeting up for an expedition such as the other year's trip to Loughborough Bell Foundry We've both always found the Plus 4 comfy, which was a revelation given that the reason I didn't try one for years was reports in the motoring press of discomfort and a harsh ride. (Yes, it does crash a bit over big bumps!). I don't read the motoring press any more. Very wise

Wish you luck in your search, maybe go classic for a while? No gizmos to worry about, zero RFL and hopefully no depreciation.
Post 90 classics maybe - by that era they were reasonably reliable and reasonably painted. My days of lying under a rusty old car on axle stands are over - apart from anything else, it takes me ages to get back upright! .... Here we go again.... I'll give up all alcohol for a month if howard enters Morgandom . Its on record now. F430 to Mog plus 4 is a big jump , 400 bhp to 150 bhp !
The 430 is 500bhp but 1.5 tonnes.
