Louder exhaust is not a bad idea. I'll do some digging around for some alternatives. You can get louder exhausts cheaply by using a 38mm hole saw on the front exhaust baffles. You will need 300mm x2 extensions to reach them. You will find better running as it frees the engine up somewhat & cooler running. Its not much louder at steady speed. Tim

A lot of drivers today seem to stop at the very last second just a few feet from the back of the rear of cars. I tell young people and some adults too that should know better to approach cars and stop areas slower and allow at least a car length. I started noticing it over a decade ago in my hot rods. Your on a hill at a stop light and a car stops right on top of you. Then you have to really be careful letting out the clutch so you don't roll back. I do like the idea of a few led lights on the top of the roll bar IF they were installed so they were flush and somewhat hidden. That would be a winter project. In the mean time in high traffic areas or driving in dark or low light conditions I might start using one of these very inexpensive LED emergency lights. It's battery operated about 3" and has three functions, red on, red flashing and white on. I've had one in each of my cars for years. It has a magnet and a hook that I quickly snapped across the M3W roll bar. I might do one wrap of the self attaching Velcro around the hook for added insurance. As you can see it's eye level and very bright! The other thing I've recently noticed is the new high performance muscle cars all seem to be running with their amber front lamps on. I don't know if they come on automatically but you notice them immediately even in full daylight and they look sinister. As you know I installed a vintage set of amber lamps on my M3W and they are very visible day or night and I may start using them a lot more. I've also had a lot of compliments on how they look so classic and add to the M3W up front! A high visibility military matt green car? A bit of a conflict maybe?

planeenut,
Like I said just under certain conditions then pull it off. I do think just one or two 1/4" flush mounted red led in the top of each rollbar might be a really good idea. These M3W do sit so low and in steep hill country where I live people seeing you as they crest a hill at high speed is a concern. In foggy conditions or very busy highway stick it on temporary.

Thanks for the pics and advice, High Noon. At least until I find a permanent solution, I've got to put those on the roll bars ASAP. Any trick to getting a hold of some? Where did you buy yours?

Gabriel,
I buy them at Harbor Freight for $3.99 each. Last Christmas I bought a bunch to give to all the close friends and relatives as a little side gift.
They have 39 LED's and the center white light is very bright as well would come in very handy at night in an emergency!

A more compact cycle LED rear lamp may be an alternative to High Noon's solution. Some have stretch band fitting for a seat post.

I have upgraded to the LED headlights as people were constantly pulling out in front of me and the loud stage II pipes helps as my wife says I can hear you coming a mile away. I also run the rear fog light most of the time.

Leave plenty of room in front when stopped in traffic or at lights and watch mirror. When stuck in slow moving traffic on motorways I always use lane 1 and leave enough space in front so I can dive onto hard shoulder if necessary. +1 - you really have to drive defensively like a bike rider. Had a van pull into my lane at walking pace as he switched into my lane a few weeks back. Missed me somehow. Air horn might have helped but really need a steering wheel button. Thinking about LED sidelight bulbs and maybe LED driving lights...
