Pauls view was based on information the factory gave him (Factory view in your parlance). He stated that in his first post.
They shouldn't have disclosed that information to him. He shouldn't have repeated it on a forum, particularly to criticise the OP and support the factory. That's my issue.
For him to then claim that he was able to assess the validity of the work by merely seeing a car at the factory is frankly ridiculous.
As we're obviously going nowhere with this I suggest we agree to disagree.

The £100 an 1 labor broke the bank. Thats in Ferrari & Lamborghini territory. 28 hrs of work was charged. That's a bit excessive
Unfortunately for high-end cars £100/hour isn't anywhere near the top rate these days. I'm not sure what would be considered "normal" for Morgan dealerships. It would be interesting to see what the range of hourly charges is for Morgan main dealers across the country and how it compares with the factory. You're spoiled in Kuwait. I miss the place

Kuwait is the same & boiling hot...
Labor could be a bit less for example the compenster was out.. replacing the clutch would be easy..lump sum

Sorry but I can't understand what is it a " rotor 6 bolt fixing " for 200 £ Can anyone help me ? It's the rotor part 15, fitting around stator, part 18. This forms the alternator. This rotor differs from one used with earlier Harley style cush drive, hence need to change to match Centa coupling. Thank you Richard. So to put a Centa on a early 3W we have to consider the cost of the Centa kit and also of a new rotor. I didn't know it. Thank you very much for your help Ironic though it may seem Q8's bill could/should have been higher. It doesn't include the Centa output coupling (2), which according to the parts diagram is not included in the Centa kit (19) either, but would most certainly have been fitted!

I got a email from aero racing..why involve them? We are having a discussion about our m3w's and fixes
"I have been made aware of your thread on talk Morgan regarding your three wheeler repairs and have seen your invoice has been posted on there. Please can I ask if you are unhappy with the service you have received? We have made you aware of the items we felt did not need replacement."

When expressing an interest in buying a M3W I asked if this work was normal? Clearly the car was in bits. The factory told me no it was not and that the customer had asked to have the work done! I do not see an issue with this! It would have finished at that if this thread did not disclose more information and, I being a normal, connected the thread and what I saw. Get a grip mph as clearly Q8 has shown he wanted to make a cost benefit decision, which was completed quickly and still in the bounds of sensible pricing for the U.K. In fact my car is going to Morgan on Monday so clearly I have no issue with their advise and charging for good work! Maybe others do. That is their perogative; but I can have a view and when I see injustice from my point of view I will point it out. That includes if the factory are wrong. Cost benefit decisions are personal and OK with me but most would not have this work done as therefore it would be seen as abnormal. I understand it may work if you do not have access to other alternatives but please; it is exception and not normal. As far as the factory giving me personal information, you have made the same assumptions I made in connecting the information you saw. Mine clearly worked but yours did not. If I had made a mistakeI would have apologized but I have not made a mistake as Q8 has made clear.

I didn't make any assumptions and I've never suggested that the factory made you party to the invoice. You stated that the factory had given you information regarding the issue of work being essential/non essential and you then took it upon yourself to berate Q8 on this forum on that basis. Q8 had never suggested that the work was forced on him but was merely posting his experiences. In fact his comments were solely related to the hourly charge, not the scope of work. Perhaps you need to get a grip too. Can we please leave this now and end with a virtual handshake ?

Nothing was abnormal. 400 clutch or bearings at under 200 are not that big of a deal. I don't get whats Unnecessary work

It's a shame that TM gets to this stage.
It's one thing disagreeing on-line, but all too often these days the disagreeing turns to vitriol by ill thought out & aggressive commenting with all that entails.
Sad.
In fact it's a lot sadder when those who post such vitriol don't actually own a Morgan, the central theme of the Forum..!!
Having watched Q8's Morgan journey over the years, I'm glad he's going to enjoy his three wheeler as he wants it. He's got a very nice stable of horsepower over there too..
Go and enjoy.
