My S4 Aero has developed a new problem - at night the headlights (full & dip) intermittently go out, then come back on. The duration is a second or two - irritating in town but potentially very interesting in the country!
Anyone come across this before - could it be as simple as a faulty switch?

That's a worrying development. Have you spoken to the factory?

Maybe the factory should start providing these.

Have you noticed if they do it on smooth roads?

From the sound of it, I'd say it was a loose wire but if so, it should be more pronounced on uneven surfaces.

Another test would be to leave the car running, with the lights on, and keep it stationary. If they still flicker, I'd put it down to an issue with the ECU or one of the other control modules. If they don't flicker, it would seem to support the loose connection / wire theory.

Didn't seem to make much difference, but have just rebooted the ECU and the problem seems to have gone when I went for a test drive last night. Maybe it was

I think a trip to the works is called for Bill, no doubt Mark (Baldwin) will sort your residual problems out tout suite!

Certainly did mine, after the extended stay at a nameless dealer for the problem to re-emerge on the way home.

When this happens Bill, are you by any chance turning the rotating knob to the right of the steering wheel? If so, I think I know the problem

I have had this exact problem: headlights flicker when adjusting the dashboard brightness control. When you say you know the problem do you mean you've experienced the problem or that you know the cause/solution?

Also noted similar effect when I close my eyes momentarily........
