Do you remember those Shobba cartoons in MCN ? The Panther owner's club football team one for example, all of them with one massive muscled leg and one spindly one ?

That's me! In fact my Thruxton was a bugger, the oil tank had a heat shield that you could have grated cheese on, slip when kicking and it took a good few thou of skin off the inside of your right leg! Hurt like hell. I guess it was the equivalent of using a starting handle.. Use it incorrectly at your own risk!

Ha! Let's just say I had a mis-spent youth, Giles..!

This always made me chuckle, too..

I loved the one of the workmen in a manhole with a pneumatic drill with a bloke going by on a Triumph "Now!! Give it a blast" or something along those lines

To return to the genius of Shobba, this one was another of my favourites (apologies for the poor quality of the image).

'Bike' magazine in the '70s was a wonderful publication, wasn't it? Shobba cartoons, Ogri, columns by LJK Setright and Royce Creasey, we loved it.

It was a brilliant magazine right into the mid 80s. Always essential reading for me at the time.

Did you know that the original editor, Mark Williams got 3 years in prison for money laundering and possession of cocaine.
