The belt will overhang the edge of the sprocket a bit, but that is much better than it going the other way and rubbing the tyre or catching the tyre valve

Just had the same thing suddenly happen during a longish drive. those Allen head bolts are tough to get off roadside, and the sharp edges remaining made me decide to have it towed. Didn’t want to risk belt damage from the edges of the residual sprocket. It looks like your belt has been tracking on the outer edge of the rear sprocket, possibly quite hard against it, hence the damage. You need to align the the rear axle to make the belt run evenly on the rear sprocket, this should be when bevel box is square in the chassis and the rear wheel is tracked straight. The guides on the sprockets should be guides for the belt, not restraints. Turning the adjusters for the axle evenly on each side is not a way to track the rear wheel, it can be way off like that.

I removed the outer flange when I had the Supermax refurb some years ago with no detriment at all as to how the belt stays on the pulley.

My dealer and mechanic removed the remainder of it, as it was really difficult to extract the screws and I am recovering from a shoulder operation and pushed it a bit too far trying myself in a hotel parking lot.👴🏼
Seems like given the number of these that have broken off:
- Morgan should remove them
- everyone who hasn’t should keep a metal file in their toolkit to smooth the edges if it breaks while out on a journey!
