Probably the most silly question, but I'm just getting to know my new pride&joy...

When I close the doors from outside I push them close and hear two clicks from the lock, with a few mm inbetween before it is closed well.

With the sidescreens removed, I can also do this from the outside when I'm sitting in the car.

With sidescreens fitted, this is a lot more difficult and I just pull on the upper edge of the door trim. That way I can easily get it to the first click, but to close the door completely I feel I have to slam it close. Even more so when the roof is also fitted.

That does not feel comfortable. Is there a way you experienced morganeers do this? (Closing completely without slamming it shut when sidescreens and roof are up)

I pull the door handle when I'm inside. At least it's easier that way to move slowly with a sharp tug at the end.

This sounds like a Womans Own fantasy story, but it's wot 'appens guv.

It sounds like your car is just like all of ours. You need not be afraid of being "firm" when shutting the doors with the screens on and with the hood up. If you feel it is a little stiff, do run some light oil into the hinges and VERY lightly oil the door lock so to keep your clothes clean.
When shutting the door with the hood up don't forget to put your hand out of the window to lift the hood flap over the top of the side screen.
Better still, don't use the screens and hood unless it is really raining!!!

Our Roadster doors close under their own weight - in fact we avoid anything resembling a "slam".

But it is a Morgan so maybe there are lots of variables?

I put a strap around the rear side curtain brace at door level. This gives Me something to pull on to close the door while seated. If I have a passenger, I wait until he/she is seated and close the door before I enter the driver's seat.

I just swing mine shut all the way, pulling on the top of the door where it meets the sidescreen. I suppose the lack of purchase or grip you can get on the top of the door limits the amount of force you can use - maybe a deliberate design feature by Morgan (but probably not!).

Some time ago I purchased a pair of aluminium door handles for fitting on the inside of my '61 +4 restoration project. I have decided to use the car for a short while before making the commitment to fit (holes are difficult to undrill).

I still think they will probably be a neccessary mod however because over the last half century I have seen many instances where SWIMBO's metal finger adornments and talons have inflicted minor injuries on various domestic and vehicle surfaces. Not to mention human flesh.

After 31 years, my door hinges are a bit slack, so with the weight of a sidescreen they do need a bit of a slam. I've fitted the Librands sidescreen steadies, so the inner knob makes a very good handle.

The ARP4 has a leather door pull. Ive seen similar ones fitted to the top of the door utilising the existing screws....something I'm thinking of doing on mine.
