A Auto Upholsterer told Me that My Everflex Hood was simply worn out. He pointed out a shiny area in the hood. "If I ran My sewing machine threw this shiny area it would shatter like glass". The Hood was built by HofE in 1999 so it is almost 20 years old. As I store the Hood in back on top of the gas (petrol) tank I thought the shiny spot was caused by fuel being spilled. +4-4STR BTW: This Hood has never been treated with anything. Nor has it leaked in the seams. I tried to make a Hood myself out of "Sunbrella". It was a disaster. I have given up the Upholsterer Trade!

Thanks folks - hood is 5 years old but not brittle. I'll look into renovo and nikwax.
Thanks Nick
