Morning all,

Just wondered if any V6 Roadster drivers had experienced the following:

Yesterday afternoon, took advantage of the sun and we went for a blast down the M4 for a Junction to go to Waitrose in Chipping Sodbury. Admittedly, the MOG has been tucked away since Run for the Hills but at the Bath turn off, we went to pull away and experienced what we could only describe as a Chuggerboom moment. Coughed and spluttered our way onto the roundabout until I took it out of gear again, raised the revs a bit and re engaged slowly. Was fine after that. No damage apart from pride in front of a load of traffic watching a kangarooing MOG.
I then tried to recreate the symptom whilst driving by trying to accelerate from low revs in 5th and we had another similar episode. Maybe not surprising?
My lovely wife suggested that I may have tried pulling way in 3rd and not 1st (preposterous - Ok maybe but I'm pretty sure not). Its due its service in November having only done about 1500 miles in a year. It has always been a very versatile engine at low revs as was my last V6. Ran fine on the way back home.

I had a very similar experience recently and the car suddenly behaved like a bucking bronco accelerating from low revs. Next time out it happened again eventually followed by poor running and starting. The problem turned out to be moisture or old fuel. Had the tank drained and filled up with fresh VPower and all OK again.

Had a 63 Plus 4 fill the tank at a Shell Station in Key West last year, and several of the nozzles at the pumps were wrapped in plastic, indicating that they weren't working. Turned out the tanks were empty and the one that wasn't wrapped in plastic was a tank that was full of water.

The car filled up using the one that wasn't wrapped in plastic and went some 100 yards before gasping to a stop. Took us a long time to figure out just what the the problem was. (We finally removed the carb bowls and found water not gasoline.)

We ended up having to drain the entire fuel tank, and refill with good gasoline. Car ran great after that. We learned to never fill up where there are plastic wrappers over some of the pumps. May not be a problem but why take the chance.

It happened to me once in our V6.

Never since - I think because we were determined to use the car rather than it sitting in the garage waiting for the next "event".

Hi All, Many thanks for the helpful comments. Took it out for another blast and all ok this time. Mrs Boss still blames pilot error. Looks like it could be old fuel. Thanks again and apologies for the delay in getting back to you all.
