But can the Abarth deliver on all the visual braggadocio?
I like the MX5 for its understatement - a sports car for drivers who don't care for bragging rights about power or speed. Also, in the UK it is priced very temptingly - not sure the same is true for the Italian versions.

Below is my MX5 - a bit like an MGB but better IMHO. Is that a Mk 2? Mine is a Mk 2.5 SVT. I think the Mk 3 is too "bulbous".

Thinking back to leaking hoods- my 1947 MG TC didn’t leak neither did my 1966 Healey Sprite nor my 1980’s Caterham. My oher sportscars, excepting Morgans, had hardtops. Could it be that the leaking Morgan hood is intentional as part of its quirkiness and that the design teams are designing new ways of making it leak?

Absolutely no intention of buying a new model. No chance of a discount for cash! You're wrong there for sure, though likely you would get a bigger discount for finance

My MGBGT's all leaked to some degree.........
So did the Midgets although the hardtops leaked worse than the soft tops.

Although with dealers being obliged to maintain a stock of new models which I presume they have to finance they could be tempted to offer semi generous inducements to purchasers.

I can't remember my B GT ever being a leaker. I never put my Morgans' hoods up, I was a "proper" Morgan person back in those days!

The BGT's used to leak around the front edge of the doors.
I also had one which leaked through the tailgate lock.

Slightly off topic, but how many people can see daylight under the rear corners, between the rubber seal and the bodywork, of the Easyup hood?
You would need the hood up and tensioned to see it but it does make the rubber seal rather a waste of space.
Fortunately water doesn't seem to come in there, except perhaps from a hose, but it is rather strange and definitely not a good fit. To fix it would require a serious massage of the shape of the back rail and the tension on the mohair would probably be all wrong then.

You mean this area Peter ? Especially where the hood seals over the luggage rack brackets ? I have had to put leather off cuts on the brackets to stop it marking the rear window
