Pendragon who own Evans Halshaw and Strathstone advise that they are looking at all their dealeships to only allocate capital where they will get a return as they appear to be annoyed at 2 premium manufacturers forcing stock on to the market.
They have BMW, Merc, Jaguar and Landrover therefore I wonder who are the bad boys. I know a friend who has purchased a BMW recently at a very large discount so are they one of them.
This snippet also came up today as well.
UK stocks of unsold cars are rising
Pendragon’s profit warning is also fueling fears that stocks of unsold cars in the UK are building up to dangerous levels.
Accountancy firm UHY Hacker Young warned earlier this month that car dealers are sitting on 16% more unsold stock than they were just a year ago. The total of new cars gathering dust is now worth £27.3bn, up from £23.6bn last year.
I suppose the old saying that if the deal looks too good to be true it is because it is too good to be true.
Who do the panel think are the two naughty manufacturers.

On behalf of my parents I spent last weekend touring dealers specing out new "city" cars and I encountered two dealers with a surprisingly large stock of "pre-registered" cars, i.e. cars registered to the dealer with delivery mileage only and £2k or more below list. One was Mercedes (specifically Smart) and the other Peugeot.

Could be Jaguar/Land Rover. I got a cracking discount of an F Pace last week with no serious haggle. Not long ago people were queuing up for them. Now the dealer’s compounds are chock full. Good car though! I was also offered eye watering discounts on Volvo, Mercedes and Lexus. Just a sign of the times plus people are hesitant to buy diesel and in the larger car market there isn’t much else - other than gas guzzling petrols at higher prices.

Could have something to do with the petrol and diesel scaremongering . I don't think there's any doubt about that. A combination of knee-jerk reaction from politicians added to the appalling amount of mis-information and flawed data flying around and the buying public is completely confused.

Mercedes made a statement that they wanted to be number 1 in a several sectors some time back. My money is on them. New C, E, GLC etc being pushed.

I was surprised to hear the comment on JLR offering deal on the F-Pace. When I went to replace the sensible car at the start of this year there were no deals to be had on LR and the F-Pace was also on constraint. I got several offers on XF Estates but all 4-cyl not the higher powered ones. I went onto carwow and the other reverse auction sites and again not nothing on LR. I did not even get an offer on LR so it looks like the dealers are well managed, wh said anti-competitive ?

Mercedes...I'm informed that in the UK they have a lot of diesels that the production planners predicted would be needed, but are no longer in demand. So great deals on C and E diesels, comparatively nothing on petrol or hybrid.
I had a phone call last week from the sales guy I know there asking me if I was interested in an AMG A45. I said yes, but I don't have any funding, my free money went on a bike pcp...!!
