Well, I've got to the first point of no return! I'm doing this entire project one wing at a time, the idea is that I reduce the time that the car is off the road to an absolute minimum - but having said that , I'm in no rush. slow and steady is the name of the game.

I've started with the rear nearside (passenger side) wing, on the basis that (a) the rears are much easier to do than the fronts, and (b) I'll get better as I go along so if the passenger side isn't perfect at least I won't have to look at it every time I get in the car

First job, getting the wing off, was dead easy, I had that done last weekend, but what with work and a bout of man-flu I didn't do anything more until today.



The old wings were cut far too tight, the tyre sticks out about 7mm further than the wing, so I'm going to cut the new wings with an extra 12mm of width



So I spent the morning checking, double-checking, measuring the old wing



and marking up the new wing:



Next job is to bung a diamond disc into my mini angle grinder and trim the wing down to size - but I need to do that outside to stop the dust going everywhere, so that 's probably it until tomorrow...

A good start. Were the rear wings held on with mild steel screws and nuts (ex-wife), stainless nuts and screws or self-appointed. Whichever were used, I presume that they came off easily.

I really admire you for tackling this one on your own. You are a braver man than I.

I did do rear wings once in the past when racing and appearance and exact fit were not really an issue, however the front wings did put me off totally.

Ring if you need a helping hand to drink your tea and make unhelpful remarks etc

3d print yourself some cutting templates and jigs....
Just like VW and I do on our Ultimaker 3d printers

How Bling!

Another benefit is that the wheel spinners will be within the wheel arch and so, "legal".

I don't think this is that far from main stream and cardboard templates will be a thing of the past.
