Well I wish someone can post a link to this interview as I can’t find any reference to it at all - all the interviews I’ve heard since he won the championship Sunday have been superb

This is the only recent reference I can find that was from an interview yesterday and it made the papers today

He was asked by the interviewer how he would feel if he was knighted for his achievement so he was answering a question posed

“I have missed the Queen since I had lunch with her when she invited me to the Palace,” he said. “I have always wanted to go back, that would be the greatest honour. I have been trying to represent England the best way I can and if that is at some stage recognised by the Queen I would be incredibly honoured.”

Nothing arrogant about that

I am sure if there was anything as bad as some are alluding to the papers would have been all over it

This was more along the lines of him saying that 'if was knighted and somebody didn't use my title, I would point it out to them that it was 'Sir Lewis Hamilton' or words to that effect.

Sounded more like a petulant child than a Formula One driver....

I can't be bothered to read the full article on the Times website but would merely point out that there is a massive difference between an article's headline and any actual quotes given. I'd revel in being called Sir following such an achievement but there's a difference between that and insisting on being addressed by that title.

Personally, I don't care a jot about the colour of his skin, whether he goes to church or not, what he eats or who his present or past partners have been. I neither like not dislike Hamilton Lewis.

What we see is the product of media gossip and hype, speculation. Regardless of what we are told, it is self evident that his achievement surpasses all other British F1 World Champions who competed in the past in championships involving fewer races and were not surrounded by such intense levels of technology and micro-management. His achievements speak for themselves.
