Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Such a diverse set of locations, but nice to see some local people too. Hopefully at some point I will meet up with some of you too, not that it wouldn't be nice to meet up in Australia owners too.

In small world moment I mentioned to my local garage owner that I'd gone and bought the Morgan, he casually mentioned that they look after one for someone who lives about a mike from me and it's a 2005 1.8 too.

Although buying from the auction was nerve wracking it wasn't quite sight unseen. Linda and I got back from holiday on the Sunday and went straight to the auction on Monday for a good look over the car and even start the engine. Then Linda bid on the phone on Wednesday, whilst I snuck out of work to watch on the internet.

Price paid was just less than we would go to, but allowed a few £k for unknown problems, which fortunately I've not found yet.

At the moment other than the big run back from the auction, most journeys have been fairly local and usually involve stopping to eat food somewhere nice. Still racked up nearly 400 miles so will have to be careful of the limited miles on the insurance.

Cheers for now

Welcome to the forum both of you

I was a ‘blind’ buyer as well - bought mine on Ebay from a private seller on a ‘buy it now’ or ‘make offer’ three and a half years ago

Absolutely no regrets, In fact I would say it’s been one of the best things I’ve ever done behind marriage and kids

( thinking mmmm...might be lying on the having kids front)

Re Limited MIles - I insure through Headley (See Miscellany) and it cost an extra £15 a year to change to unlimited mileage. No need to count now - just enjoy.

Paul I never actually checked mileages -v- cost out, but figured 5000 should be fine. Got my 928 on the same plus everyday car and the big estate too so too many cars anyway.

Rog I was certainly interested in your comment about the throttle body mod for the 1.8. Looking at photos as far as I can see, the 2.0 is just a slight reshape of the metal plate connected to the throttle cable. So 10 minutes with a dremel or £15 for a second hand 2.0 throttle body and you have a faster car ?!? Is it that simple ? Out of interest where in Somerset are you ? I'm in Wraxall between Shepton Mallet and Yeovil
