When interest rates were 14% and incomes rather lower I ran a Series III Landie with major swivel hub incontinence issues. Whilst raising the cash for new swivels, 1 replacement hub (old one butchered by previous owner) and new seals, I would remove the brake shoes, scrape the worst of the oil off, place them on the concrete patio well away from house and garage, douse them in petrol and throw a match at them. Not something I would try today but it kept me mobile.

Whoa Guys! I would expect More Solid advice from TM. These are BRAKES Ya Know. Our lives depend on them.

The thing is, when you need a car for work every day, and cash is short. these flexible fixes keep the wheels turning.

All this is, after all, is a matter of judgement.

Who regularly and religiously checks their tyre pressures or takes the trouble to get their gauge calibrated? A few PSI in tyre pressure off that recommended is not particularly advisible but not a cardinal sin and neither is removing some grease from a brake pad.

Given the advice on greasing kingpins on TM, I'd put money on there being contaminated discs on probably 20% of the Morgans owned by TM members. I remember David Rutherford showing me the build up of grease sitting on each damper blade of one particular 4/4; there was about a quarter of a tub of grease each side.

I'm with you $20 sees it right - these are toy cars not economy daily drivers for most of us to put the whole thing in context.

Front pads are hardy creatures,they like being hot.

Can well believe that David, I've seen a fair few with grease all over the place, like the proverbial mad woman's breakfast.

Arwyn, I have never heard that phrase and it's a good one and describes it more suitably for these timid TM participants.

I would have said 'like a pile of dog......' but modesty prevents me revealing more!

New original old stock pads ordered off e bay for $20 in a unipart box . I wasn’t really looking for advice just a part number but all These old fixes have served to remind me of my youth growing up in the 60s and trying to keep the wheels turning on various cars and bikes .
The unipart pads may not have the bite that the mulfab parts did but the car did display a forward bias with the braking so perhaps they will give a better balance .
Looking forward to trying them .

Hmmm! Not sure what I paid for My Porterfield Pads. $80 US comes to mind. There are other things that make our Morgan Worlds go around. But I do like to STOP!
