The tires are P6000s probably near 10 years old , impossible to wear out so I think they must be plastic tires and not rubber . Emergency braking produces very loud squeal with lots of smoke and burning rubber smell , very F1 , but no marks on the tread . I should just ditch them but they are balanced and you know how hard it is to get someone to properly mount a wire wheel for ballancing . Dave You need new tires NOW! Here is how I get them balanced correctly. I let the tire guy balance them any way He feels He can. Then when He is done I ask him to balance them again. Sometimes they balk. I offer to pay double if they are in balance and nothing if they are not. If they do not through Me out of the tire shop, I suggest He try it again with a cone on either side of the wire wheel. I also often use and Alignment shop for balancing. They seem to have better machinery and are a bit brighter than the tire shop guys. But I do the same thing. Ask them to remount them and check to insure they are balanced.

Home in Canada I have a set of cones to hold wire wheels properly on a balancer one goes into the rear taper of the wheel and the other on the outer taper where the wheel nut holds the wheel on the hub , this is the only way to hold a wheel for ballancing . Kits of tapers are available or if you have a lathe you can run some off . It’s woth it as NO other way works properly . Dave

New original old stock pads ordered off e bay for $20 in a unipart box . I wasn’t really looking for advice just a part number but all These old fixes have served to remind me of my youth growing up in the 60s and trying to keep the wheels turning on various cars and bikes . The unipart pads may not have the bite that the mulfab parts did but the car did display a forward bias with the braking so perhaps they will give a better balance . Looking forward to trying them . Dave Question is, are they really new original or a Chinese imitation sold through their usual channel, and if so are they any better than greasy real pads. I think I would feel safer with the degrease originals.
