The Series 2 filter isn't the same. Perhaps Frank can oblige us with a photo. I've only experienced my Series 1 with the K&N fitted, so can't say whether or not it makes a difference. There's no discernable intake noise though.

Thanks Dave,

K&N only show the Morgan +8 even for a 2008 model!!

They have a 33-2210 for the Mondeo ST220 and a 33-2187 for the Ford Escape.

I have the dimensions of both from K&N and shall measure mine when I get a chance.

Have just dismantled my air box to copy Dave's great guide.
To my horror there is no airfilter fitted presumably from new as the last service was by Techniques at 8.9k and replacement is at 10k.
K&N ordered immediately!

Hello Dave,

I have come to this topic very late but following up on John V6's 'Missing Filter Cartridge' Topic I decided to take a look in my Series 2 2009 Filter Box.

I am sorry about the photo orientation but Photobucket insist on turning the photo between the Library and here.

Easier said than done. I have no idea how to get into the Series 2 Filter Box.

What I did find during that look see was that the Sunken Brass Nuts have pulled out of the base.

They obviously screw in but they can only be accessed by taking off the lid which I failed to find out how to do?

I can see that there is a Filter in the Box but I have no idea what has caused the Sunken Knuts to Pull Out of the base?

I lifted out one of the Domed Grommets buy there only seems to be Orange Filter showing inside.

At that point I gave up the search.

If anyone can help with this dilemma I would appreciate it.

Frank

I've been paying attention to the airbox and air filter as I try to track down the cause of the unstable idle.

I asked Lawrie at Williams how to remove the air box cover and he said there are either Hex or Torx bolts down under the rubber plugs, plus the 2 in Franks photo.

I've not yet had a look, that is a job for this weekend, along with cleaning the mass flow sensor.

Peter, have you checked or tried a new potentiometer for the throttle position yet?

Took the old one off, it is a sealed unit.
Ordering a new one isn't easy, it is a US import, 6 to 8 weeks delivery...

Peter,

New Elms will be replacing the TPS in couple of weeks time as my 2009 Roadster has the same problem. Its not expensive, and I am sure that this is the cause of the erratic idle. I vigorously exercised mine and it cures the problem for a few days. I suspect the end resistive segments are either worn or dirty.
