Talk Morgan Forums Morgan Sports Cars Classic Morgans (pre-CX) 53-54 Interium Cowls

Just read in the current edition of Mog magazine that there were 47 'interium cowl' cars produced. I have read there were only 19 produced. Can someone set me straight? Also, does anyone have the production numbers for these cars?

"From some discussions with my colleagues in the Morgan Historic Register together with some other information it is thought that there were/are :-

46 made with the cowl and a Flat grille and of course the low level 'bean can' headlight tubes.

A further 19 made with the cowl and the later Rounded 'waterfall' grille, again with the low level 'bean can' headlight tubes.

A point to note is that some went back to the Factory later to have the Rounded grille fitted.

There are more than 3 around.

The Hemmings one has the later grille, shame, looks a nice car otherwise, nice price too!

A freind of mine has a intrim model that went back to the factory for the update modifications.

A total of 65 "interim" +4s sounds quite high. Not all cars were built in chassis number sequence, with more "modern" ones in between, while some are still a question mark as to specs.

Quite a few still survive, most of all in the USA. "New" ones are discovered from time to time.
