I think we should recommend that your side screen fix are a standard fitting to any new side screen

Dave, why not make the sidescreen seal run full length from front to rear?

It's do-able Nigel, but I'm wary of spacing the sidescreen from the door. Between the two uprights it's a really tight fit already.

Another idea hit me over the weekend. The rear sliding portion of the sidescreen has a narrow trough in front of it, into which the front plastic window is secured with clear silicon sealant. Closer look - difficult to show clearly....... COH Baines sell angle neoprene (L shaped with one leg thicker than the other) - reference IRS0822EP at £1.06 per metre...... The thick end slots in the trough and the thin leg fits close to the sliding window. This means that when it's wet, much less water can get in that slot. I've fixed it at each end with double sided tape. Although the tape doesn't stick well to the neoprene (due to the waxy release agent I suppose)- it helps to hold the seal in the trough. Just a small piece at each end. Close up with flash (sorry about that dust........) The only tricky bit is that there was some silicon residue at the fixed window end which took some shifting so the seal could fit properly. But this is a nice and easy quick cheap fix. And one day it will get wet again.......

My 1992 4/4 has rubber seals on the sidescreens. I have just put new ones in as the originals were a bit worse for wear. The windscreen uprights have a "channel" fitted that this rubber slots into rather than sit tight against the screen frame as there is a curvature in the rubber. I either teaae this curvature out a bit to get it to span the gap or fill the channel out a bit with neoprene. Latter seems easier. I still haven't got round to photos yet so be patient! As for sealing other areas...thats a winter time garage job. Thanks again DaveW for the insight into how to tackle it even though each car has its own charactyeristics your ideas are sound and able to be mofidied to suit

I have just done my screens but had to order 8m as minimum order is £10 plus VAT and shipping came to £18.84 (it's now £1.40m).
Anyone interested in some for their car then drop me a PM.
It does finish it off a treat!

It does finish it off a treat! Ah, I just used some wiper blades peeling them appart to get a strip of rubber and gluing them in. After last Sunday 5 hr drive up from Devon in gale force winds I found water coming in. Have also ordered self adhesive neoprene extrusions to make a seal on the inside of the door as water was pushing in under the bottom of the door (you can ones on Dave's car in the photos) and new seals for the wiper bevel boxes.

Seals+ Direct do some really good stuff - a good choice and reasonable price - they will also send 3" samples so you can be sure it fits before you buy. Phil
