Hi Chris My theory is that the centa problems are caused by material compression set ie under so many loadings (road miles) the rollers change shape enough to squeeze into the rotor gaps and finally get chopped up. If Im right then the MK2 rollers could be better as they are harder so will compress less and the extra length will constrain them more to reduce elongation. so really all current rollers will fail sooner or later depending on mileage could be wrong though! I might have been a bit hasty with the rubbers. Had another look and it turns out all 4 rollers are still there and look OK. However that does still leave me with the instant burning rubber smell above about 4,500, when I put my foot down and when manouvering. I've also got a clonking at 3,000 - 3,200 ish rpm I can drive around both of these and will check the drivebelt tension and bevel box mountings when the weather improves. I'll also change the exhaust mounting rubbers as these have done 11k miles. After that I'm a bit stumped

I get “ the smell” too but only after a quick take off. I’ve always assumed clutch material or tire rubber.

Anyone heard from Phil Bleazley regarding the elliptical rubbers he'd prototyped?

Oh dear. Things fall apart, the Centa will not hold... You had to go there...
What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

So weird that this is such a common symptom of something, it's just a shame that we don't yet know quite what though. EXACTLY the same on my car on the way to Grindelwald, but nothing since. Maybe it just needs to be driven for 4 days solid in biblical-level rain storms and it will be sorted....!
