I have a Roadster S1 from 2004, and have just realised that the trumpet leading air from the inverted louvres to the air box is lacking. The box itself and the filter is of course there, but not the trumpet. So the air is just sucked into the rectangular opening of the box, but not rammed in, as the trumpet might have done. Is this of any importance to an everyday driver? Lack of performance? Should I search for a trumpet (I know what company made them) or could I put on some other filter with any change in preformance, for example an ITG?
Greetings from Norway!

My 2005 roadster had no trumpet. I did replace the filter with a K and N but anyway, someone at factory (I think) told me it made no difference.....some came with one, some without!
Sort of, "they don't all do that, sir" to make a change

The trumpet goes to the inverted louvres in the bonnet. So it brings in cold air and that does make s difference. How much I don't know.

All of the Roadster 100's were delivered with the Long Flexible hose running forward from the Air Filter Box and the open end just poked over the top of the cross frame with the open end located just behind the top of the Radiator.

I have been trying to find, without success, the type of Polished Trumpet End seen on a Photo which I will try and post in the Photo Gallery as I have forgotten how to get a URL via TM?? ( DoH)

The one in the photo also includes a Neat Mesh Screen set just inside the Trumpet.

Another R100 Register Member's Car has had the whole Box removed and replaced with the K&N inverted 'Flowerpot Shaped' Filters on the Air Intake and the Breather Pipes. Seems to be ok and adds to the engine sound I am told.

That's a great looking 4/4 Zetec engine bay. Whose car is it, I'd like to blag a few ideas.

Revotec do some nice polished intake hose trumpets

Well, of course it matters, question is how much? Cold air rammed into the intake is surley better than just warm air from the engine bay, but would I notice? This car has 228 hp nominally, if it turns out to be just 218 it is still enough to lose my license any day. On the other hand, it is sad to restrict the power if it is really noticeable and relativly easy to fix. Any thoughts? Any wizardry from DaveW?

Thanks for the info Bob,

Sadly I have no idea who's car this is. I believe that the photos were posted on here some years ago.

Frank, there are rebooted pictures at the end of this thread: http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/41344/Re_Series_1_Roadster_Air_Filte#Post41344
Could these be the ones you are referring to? If so, the duct is not bespoke, but obviously what was delivered with (some of) the Roadster, and the item I am looking for. But the question remains: Is it worthwile? Will it make a difference? A difference noticeable to the driver or to the endurance of the engine, that is.
