No dampness because I hardly ever wash it................

Its at its worst when out in cold weather.

I don't have any misting at all BUT shortly after getting the car I came across a short handled mop like thing in the local supermarche called Ninette and remembered that my father had one. I used it on the sidescreens and the rear window. Of course it could be a coincidence and the hood is rarely up. We drove 250k yesterday (Minus 3 degrees) and all was fine.

meabh.
I too remember the Ninette brush. My Dad had two for his Jag, one for the wheels and one for the body.
Are they still available in the UK?

When I was at MMC last week I have seen the material used for the side screens is not Perspex (which is a trade name for PMMA = polymethylmethacrylate) but Lexan (trade name for PC = polycarbonate).
There is a special type of Lexan used:

Lexan Margard sheet
Abrasion resistant sheet
MR5, MR10, MRT, MRA, HLG series

It looks like a very high class material.
There you can find the specification and cleaning instructions as well: https://www.theplasticshop.co.uk/lexan-m...12mm-thick.html

I can't believe a wax/oil impregnated brush could be good for sidescreens.....surely it would smear badly?

Well yes Nick, but not badly and followed up with a soft cloth pretty good - on mine anyway.
