Aberdeen sea front on a sunny February from my childhood memories.

The Canadians have block heaters, electric coolant pumps and radiator shutters to deal with very low temperatures. The car is warmed up to operating temperature before leaving the garage....

Pure ethylene glycol freezes at +5F or -15C.

Radiator shutters.....
My Austin Maxi had those fitted as standard. Pull cable under the dash to open/close. A much maligned car but it was a damn good workhorse, I bought a second one after scrapping the first! The rustworm eventually got to it

Thank God for the British climate. Never the -30 of Canada or the +40 of Oz. Instead a sensible 10C +/-10.

I live in the Canadian sun belt, today we woke up to a balmy -18C. The car is garaged with the top down, too cold to erect I fear, will have to wait till spring.

Aberdeenshire its -5C today & not forecast to get above Zero. Last month we had -10C & I spent one day helping park cars at a Drum Castle event at -8C
