Now Facebook has banned the promotion of Bitcoin and other speculative financial products.

It's not Bitcoin, but there's been a big scam based on using the Ethereum Blockchain. A company has disappeared with supposedly millions of investor's money, leaving a one-word message.

I don't understand why, given the scams and thefts, that people who have any kind of Crypto don't keep them in offline hardware safes.
The one I have is simple to use and was the princely sum of £68

Here in the UK, HMRC see crypto-currencies as another source of revenue - income derived from trading is subject to income tax, and of course the profits are subject to Capital Gains tax.
But of course you can't pay the tax with the cryptocurrency. Make a million from Bitcoin and you've still got to pay your 40% or whatever in actual pounds...

You never know. It might not be too long before HMRC also start accepting payments with cryptos too.

The Indian government got rid og the old 500 and 1000 rupee notes to cut down on rampant black money so they can hardly be pleased with the potential of bitcoins to avoid taxes. Probably neither is HMRC but the civil service has never been noted for fast decisive action

Tax collection is perhaps the authorities main fear rather than ‘criminal activity’? If you did make your million and it resided in your super secure offline ledger then they might have difficulties taking their cut, in pounds. As crypto payments become more common collecting taxes from offline and P2P transactions might become a nightmare.
