Talking about recent TV, did anyone watch ‘The House’ about the history of a town house in Liverpool - absolutely fascinating - I was riveted

The amount of research that had gone into that one programme was astonishing

And it is continuing. I have recorded the series. I was gripped also. Isn't good when you come across an unexpected gem.

Yes we did! Excellent and totally absorbing TV for me.

What an amazing story they unearthed.

Am really looking forward to the next "phase".

It is you’re right, totally unexpected. I didn’t want it to end. Probably the best social history programme I’ve ever seen.

Amazing about the young servant couple, who when he died left the equivalent of £1.5 Million from hard work and investment and the cotton trader who was bankrupt went to prison, left his wife and Step daughters in poverty to go America, fought in the American Civil War as a mercenary and remarried to another life

Reverting to McMafia I have enjoyed it so far, it reminds me of a time I worked in the private jet business, we had a couple of Russian clients, no one ever asked what they did and any meetings at their extremely plush London offices were just full of intrigue. Very nice offices, very pretty girls, very scary Russians in crisp dark suits and no idea at all of what work was being done, if any.

McMafia sure is captivating viewing.

And although fictional I guess not too far removed from the reality of double dealing and violence or threats of violence in that murky world.

Thanks too Paul - for your expereince/feedback!! Oooooeeerrr!

I agree with the above comments Stewart - we really enjoyed the programme and it is now set to 'series record'.

The presenter ( David Olusoga ) was interviewed on BBC Breakfast and was fascinating - clearly very 'into' the subject matter. He didn't want to be drawn too much but it was fairly obvious that he was not enamoured of the cotton trader and how he made his money....

Just watched Ep1. Looks like it may develop and it is on series record.
Reminds me a bit of The Night Manager.
Enjoyed that.
