Its in my book. Yes really. But only from 1997 which was the pivotal year of change.
It took a great deal of research to get close to the truth and I think its about right! You won't find much on the internet and whats there is generally not that accurate.

I knew it. notworthy

I was only joking when I commented that you would say it's in the book but I should have known better.

I bet I don't get many more responses to my post now. Nobody will dare contradict what might be in "THE BOOK"
Can I have my copy now please? read

Regarding mudguard widths: don't forget that the Morgan is still, to a large degree, made by hand. Even if all the mudguards arrive at the factory pre-formed they are cut to fit the car by hand. Almost invariably the width of the mudguards will vary from side to side and very likely now two cars have exactly the same width guards even if the specifications for the wheels are the same. It may seem ridiculous but someone I know asked for a tape measure specifically to show that the width of the rear guards varied from side to side and they had trouble finding one.

I thought the cockpits were their same width on all current trad models, just the wings are different.

Personally if I could see 'by eye' that the rear wings varied on a new build, I would not be happy

I can add some information regarding the Plus 4s from 1950-68:

1. Narrow Body, High Profile, 1950-1957. The Plus 4 was 2 inches wider than the 1936-50 4/4 Series 1. The change from Flat rad to Waterfall grille did not change the body sizes.

2. Wide Body, High Profile, 1957-1968. The cockpit was widened by 2 inches and the fenders were narrowed accordingly. The transition was made first for 2-seat roadsters, and four-seaters were widened in 1958.

3. Narrow-body, Low-Profile, 1961-1968. All but the first few SuperSports were fitted with the smaller 4/4 bodies. In 1967-68 the 4/4 body became standard on Plus 4 roadsters but not 4-seaters. But some of the 1967 +4 roadsters were built with the wide-body as per previous years.

4. Wide body, Low Profile. 1967-68. Some of the last +4 roadsters appear to have wider bodies as on later 4/4s.

The trends in 4/4s from 1954 to 1968 were a little different and hopefully someone else can help.

On a personal note, when I was younger I was a narrow body.

Now I regret to say, I'm definitely a wide body.....
