Anybody had to replace the Air Con unit in a Series 1 Aero?

My sister-in-law has been advised (some time ago admittedly) that the Air Con unit in her Series 1 is cream crackered and that it needs replacing. The problem is that Morgan no longer have any spare.

Has anybody with a similar issue managed to source a suitable alternative replacement unit?

Thanks,

LWH

Luckywhiteheather, that’s a mouthful! Do you have a real name?

Is the heater switch working correctly on the S1? The air con won’t work if the heating is on and a lot of the heater switches fail.

Simon, on my S1 aircon worked with heat selected on the rheostat switch. Are you maybe confusing with fact that you need the fan on at least a small amount for the aircon to work?

Cheers

My S3 aircon definetly works with the application of heat. It will not work unless the fan is switched on

Same in Tarka, (S4 Aero based) if the fan isn't on when the A/C switch is pressed then the A/C switch flashes....

Leave me alone....I'm old and befuddled........yes, fan switch, what made me say heater I don't know (oh apart from my switch doesn't work)
sorry.
The old saying is true....better to keep quite and be thought of a fool rather than open one's mouth and remove all doubt......

If you read my post last July I had the same problem. There are no wiring diagrams available for the Mk1 Aero.My heater controller under the dash was replaced and as previously stated there is an eight pin connector under the steering column that badly corrodes.
Being unable to replace the air con controller we have rewired the system with three relays and extra fan fitted.I had this all done professionally and am just explaining the basics. It all works better than originally.
Simon supplied the new condenser and pipe.
