Brilliant pictures as always GLLOQ !!!! It seems that you must have just about rebuilt everything mechanical on your machine, fantastic. I agree with your approach re preferring to get the mechanics "right" but I am truly a muchanic with limited skills. In this case I will look to just replace with same or repair. As it isnt quite broke yet I do have some time to seek a replacement. (Having said that it will probably now fail !!)
Thanks again for pictures. Good to see that the cylinder can be taken up to a reasonable place to work on. I was concerned about getting fluid everywhere in the footwell.
Did you bleed the system after? My car is an early model with the slave cylinder inside the bell housing. I just hope that the issue is the master cylinder and not the slave !!!!!!
regards nigel

I have not had a reason to check out the Caparo numbers on the Alternative Parts list, none of it has worn out yet. It seems that Caparo once was AP Lockheed but now don't sell to the public, only manufacturers such as Morgan and Aston Martin. This means that any part numbers don't appear on cross reference list either. Assuming that the Caparo part designs are very similar to the Lockheed, that may be a good place to start looking at detailed specifications on dimensions. Sorry I cannot be of any further help. Please let us know if you find a good substitute, I am sure a direct replacement is there somewhere. The Caparo information says the clutch cylinder is 15.8mm diameter which is 5/8", so suggests an "old" design.

I had a problem with the master cylinder only despite mileage that must be 80k or 85k because the meter does not always work for insurance.

For the replacement of the master brake cylinder I might make a new pedals box with two master brake cylinders (front / rear).

Hi Planenut I think you are correct about Caparo, i had no luck with finding alternative or even them. Seems thay and AP Hydraulics have gone bust at one point. I did see some units in Google images which looked like they might be the same ?? from CNC. Havent gone any further as yet. Dont want to dismantle things until have a replacement identified so will likely have to contact Morgan direct. Summer in full swing here with February having a number of car events to attend/show at. So will ignore for now and hope to get through to easter before taking off the road!

There's a Caparo parts list for Morgan on line somwhere and I posted some details on TM a while ago.
I suspect that the MX5 gearbox set up is similar for the three wheeler and the 4/4 & Plus 4 and it might also be possible that the master cylinder was used on earlier Plus 4s with the Ford gearbox.
It might be worth a look.
