Hi, I need a new water pump for my 1976 +8. Can anyone tell me where to get one and a part number. The one fitted is wrong, the engine was replaced some years ago and I'm trying to get bits sorted.
It's a bit confusing for me.....

I purchased one recently from Rimmer

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID800036

There are a few that fit your year, I think there is a differance with the 'nose' the bit that the pulley fits onto

While my +8 is a 3.9 the pump is as described for a 4.0 as mine has the serpentine belt

do you still have a 3.5 engine ?

OEM water pumps have a shorter nose, such that they will fit into the space available, they are specific to the +8 and not P6 or SD1 generic. Give Mr Rutter or your local/favourite Morgan dealer a call.

Ok so it is a special water pump for a Morgan. A short nosed one on eBay is not the one..... The car has a old 3.5 litre engine in it.

Hi rory kim.
If you look at the rover SD1 water pump then if its similar. You will probably have to cut the nose off it to fit the +8. This is what I did with my spare water pump, although it was a tough job to hacksaw it through as the centre seemed to be hardened steel. The original pump I removed and it was reconditioned with a new seal and bearings. This was done in Hamilton New Zealand so not much good to you. There must be somebody in the UK who reconditions the pumps

Had a similar issue when replacing the water pump on my 3.9 Plus 8.
Never realised so many different versions were fitted to the Rover V8.
Eventually identified the correct short nose pump as the same as fitted to the Triumph TR8 installation.
Bought one at a very sensible price from a TR8 specialist in Hertfordshire.
Getting the two long bolts, that penetrate the water jacket, out was A MISSION!

Have kept the original for... what? Just a born hoarder, I'm afraid.

Thank you all, the main problem is that I don't have one to view and match up.
Some new ones on eBay are £98 ish and the ones on Melvyn Rutters web site are £200 ish so I don't know what to think.............
