I also took a wrong turn and ended up in that rather long tunnel, so I had to go to the end, and then return through it. There is a Péage (toll) of about €3 each way, but this does not apply to anyone with a telepéage tag - so I was very glad I had one!

I had an e-mail confirmation by return, and the sticker (level 1) by post within a week.

The only point that slightly concerns me is the sticker should be affixed on the near-side of the windscreen - in France this is the drivers side. In UK any obstruction in the swept area of the windscreen fails the MOT.

With regard to Lyon stickers are not required for the motorway, but if you leave it for any reason you're in trouble.

But it only applies between certain hours - from memory 06h00 and 20h00, so anyone with a car more then twenty years old - and I know a few in Paris, can get out to enjoy themselves.

And a warning - don't be taken in by the websites dressed up to look like the official one, that then rip you off. The full cost is €4.80.

Quentin

Quentin I'm being lazy so forgive me for mining your knowledge. What are the traps then when one drives a 1968 Morgan across France from Mulhouse to Le Mans, avoiding Paris? And if I was then to drive to a hotel near Charles De Gaulle airport - will I require some type of Vignette or should I park up and take a train?
Your comment on "more than 20 years old" intrigues me.

There is very little chance that the lack of vignette crit air is a problem for you, I even ride with the sticker in my jacket from the beginning it has never been claimed (I live in Paris) because was a Morgan.

I understood that when it was introduced it excluded all vehicles over twenty years old.

But could one of the French resident TM's confirm tnat - otr tell me I had been misinformed?

We certainly do not want you having problems coming to the Classic!

IIRC, vehicles registered prior to 1997 may not circulate in Paris except at night and the weekends. There are exceptions; emergency service and military vehicles, and cars which are registered (on their registration document) as collectors cars .

Giles. Mogless in Paris.

Thanks Giles, that confirms what I thought was the case. And, according to German Wiki, see below, no eco vignette required (or issued) for cars older than 20 years. Knowing I can make a foray into Paris after Le Mans is very helpful. Getting out again on a weekday could take some planning, although I have Austrian "historic" registration which perhaps could be argued is the same as collector. Although my French is not up to arguing with a cop

So Quentin YES! Road clear for Le Mans Classic drive
