I bought it through eBay on an accepted offer and although I paid cash when I collected it, the seller would have had to pay 5% of the total price through PayPal which would have been a Hefty £875
Still probably less than a commission sale through a dealer but I think a dealer would have got more for it Ebay fees for cars are not that steep. They usually work out at £50 to £70 maximum for a car. It was changed a couple of years ago You are right it’s not that much now I think the latest is £10 to list a car then 1% of final selling fee in an auction Normal items are now 10% of final selling price but capped at £250 so I don’t know if there is a cap for cars Car classifieds are around £15 per advert and nothing more to pay

If it’s that 1947 flat rad, it’s been up for sale before on eBay with an equally unusual listing that looked dodgy. The 1947 flatrad eventually sold for £14,900, the previous discussion is here - 1947 Flat rad on ebay. It was a dodgy looking listing but the seller appeared to specialise in damaged repairable classics and as far as I could tell was genuine. The adversarial wording of his adverts was clearly fair warning that he wouldn't be messed about with! The eBay listing can still be seen: 1947 MORGAN 4/4 SERIES 1 DROPHEAD COUPE 5000 MILEAGE GREAT CONDITION I don't know how this compares with the recent one. ~iw

Oddly enough, here it is again.. Flat Rad If Tim Ayres is selling it then I wouldn't imagine that there would be anything dodgy going on.

If you look at the 'other items for sale', there are loads of hooks on there, all with identical wordings. I've just spent the last half an hour reporting the various things that have the same photographs, but with differing sellers details and addresses. It's as dodgy as Dave W's used neoprene.. For example, here's an A-H 3000 rally car for 99p start bid and a £7000 buy it now...off eBay... Dodgy Healey Listing Same car photo's under a different sellers details. Same as the flat rad seller, oddly enough.. Another seller, same car

I'm a bit confused, Steve. That Flat Rad link you posted is for a classified ad from Tim Ayres at New Elms for a concours flat rad at £39,995. The other items for sale are a list of his other stock cars.
I agree that the second link to the Healey is well dodgy.

If eBay can't recognise the item id then it uses the description as a search. If you click that link now and then look at the URL in the address bar, it's the same one you would get if you'd done a search for "1947 Morgan 44 series" etc... That's because item 202232785076 no longer exists. It's eBay's way of trying to make sure you don't go away empty-handed! (If you want to go directly to an item use: ebay.co.uk/itm/ followed immediately by the item number. In this case http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202232785076 which confirms that the item has been removed.) ~iw
